Together we’ll enjoy a half-day wandering through one of the most authentic parts of Lisbon — away from the crowds, in a neighborhood full of families and traditional markets and stores. We’ll eat, drink and enjoy life the way true Lisboetas do. Our journey will take us to an iconic food market, a favorite family-run gourmet store, traditional bakeries and a tasting of several wines made from Portugal’s more than 300 indigenous grapes. We’ll walk through the neighborhood, chat with vendors & restaurant owners, and catch a glimpse of a traditional way of life that is disappearing. While we walk, I’ll be happy to share some of my favorite addresses and insights into life in Lisbon.

SEASONAL ALENTEJO | 3-day harvest workshops

We’re excited to announce two special 3-day workshops that will include winemakers, olive farmers, cheesemakers, artisans and of course time together at the table. Each workshop will be a balance between hands-on experience, tastings and talks with masters of their crafts, and time to enjoy the special soulfulness of Alentejo. From breakfast through dinner, we’ll travel all over the region, tasting, drinking, eating, cooking, learning and having fun. Please send me an email if you’d like details and pricing. I have blocked out the dates and will keep a waiting list until we have a green light to go. There is no commitment at this point, but I am optimistic that we will be together soon!  Even though we don’t know exactly what the future of travel will be, I hope this will inspire you to dream, to plan, to think about how you want to travel through this new world.

Wine Harvest Workshop // September 3 – September 7, 2020 // Alentejo
A celebration of late summer and the abundance of fall. We will participate in the wine harvest, visit the local markets, try regional cheeses and charcuterie, picnic in the cork forest, and cook and drink wine together. Please send me an email if you’d like more info.
Olive Harvest Workshop November 25-28, 2020 Alentejo
Portugal’s olive oil is less-known than other regions in Europe, but among the best in the world. It’s at this time of year when fall is just wrapping up, that we will harvest olives from an organic farm and take them to the local lagar to be pressed. We’ll taste the first run of oil together, visit castles and convents along the way. We’ll cook regional specialties in a wood oven, taste local cheeses and charcuterie and enjoy dinner with winemaker friends. Please send me an email if you’d like more info.

We will be announcing dates soon. Please send me an email or add your name to our mailing list.

FARM & VINE | inspired, community dinners

An open-air feast in celebration of local farms. Alentejo is home to winemakers, cheesemakers, farmers, bakers and artisans. Our goal with Farm & Vine is to make a lasting connection between the public and the farmers, makers and producers who grow the incredible produce of the region. We hope to create a marriage of food, place and people. Picture a seemingly endless picnic table, set for dinner with tablecloths, place setting, and fresh flowers. Now put that table in the middle of a beautiful orchard in bloom, or field on a coastal ranch in view of the sea, or a handsome vineyard amid sun-burnished hills. Around the table, farmers and producers sit with diners to share stories about their work while guests from around the corner and across the globe break bread.

We will be announcing dates and locations soon. Please send me an email to add your name to our mailing list.
